Problem Waste

Problem Wastes are wastes with properties that make them dangerous or potentially harmful to human health or the environment. These wastes cannot be placed in your household bins and include items such as batteries, e-wastes, chemicals, paint, gas cylinders, and asbestos.

Council offers a range of services for problem wastes and other tricky to recycle items that can't go in your household bins.

Still unsure how to dispose of a specific item? See our A-Z recycling guide

Community Recycling Centre

The Community Recycling Centre (CRC) is a free drive through and drop off service for household problem waste. Most of the items accepted by the CRC can be used or recycled.

By sorting our waste correctly and using the recycling centre you are able to:

  • Keep waste out of landfill.

  • Improve recycling rates.

  • Save water, energy and other valuable natural resources.
