Community Wellbeing Survey
In June 2015 Council conducted its first ever Community Wellbeing Survey to help identify the ways in which Council can promote the health and wellbeing and create a healthy community for people who live, work and visit Lane Cove. The survey is repeated every 2 years to ascertain changes and trends.
2023
How good is our hood? Is Lane Cove’s outstanding result in the 2021 Australian Liveability Census to be repeated? Here’s your chance to find out – by participating in the 2023 survey that closes 30 June, 2023. Over 60 councils, state agencies, non-profits, corporations, and research organisations unite for this ground-breaking study on liveability. The research aims to uncover the key factors that impact quality of life for Australians, and how governments can prioritise planning that leads to better outcomes.

2021
Council promoted the Australian Liveability Census, an online survey designed to capture community values and measure performance from the perspective of the communities who live in the neighbourhood.
The results are in and drumroll please... Lane Cove's score was the equal highest score across the nation! Tied with Adelaide, our score was well above the national average.
The results showed us that our strengths are a sense of personal safety; local businesses that provide for daily needs; elements of the natural environment; landscaping/natural elements; access to neighbourhood amenities; and a sense of belonging in the community.
While many of us already recognise the wonderful community we live in, it is fantastic to see that our fellow residents also love where they live.
2019
In July 2019, Council conducted its third Community Wellbeing Survey with the findings published in a report. Results show that the Wellbeing index remains high at 74.8. Any score above 60 means that most people reported positive views about their personal and community wellbeing. An infographic provides a snapshot of the findings from the survey.
2017
The second Community Wellbeing Survey was conducted in June 2017 and a report prepared. Results showed that the Wellbeing Index remained high at 75. 2015
The results of the 2015 were presented in a report, which shows Lane Cove received a Wellbeing Index of 76.2 out of 100. The score is based on responses to 15 questions across a number of different aspects of wellbeing, ie. the things that make it possible for us to lead meaningful, happy and fulfilled lives. Any score above 60 means that most people reported positive views about their personal and community wellbeing.
