New Housing Targets
Published on 06 June 2024
"The NSW Government has committed to building 377,000 new homes across the state in the next 5 years to align with the National Housing Accord.
Councils in Greater Sydney, Illawarra-Shoalhaven, Central Coast, Lower Hunter and Greater Newcastle have a target and one shared across regional NSW. Housing targets are critical to address the housing crisis to meet the future needs of our community so they have access to a great place to live. The targets help us address the housing shortage and prioritise more diverse and well-located homes in areas with existing infrastructure capacity – such as transport, open spaces, schools, hospitals and community facilities."
