Interests
I am passionate about women’s issues having firsthand knowledge of the complexities and prevalence of domestic violence. I also am and advocate for youth mental health LGBTQUIA+ diversity, aged care, and science and the environment.
Background
I started and built a successful graphic design business in my early 20s which I left to juggle raising my neurodiverse children and aging parents. I wrote a black humour memoir, ‘Catch A Falling Star – A Story About Growing Up with Jeanne Little’ and have always loved entertaining either by singing of DJing or performing stand-up comedy – I believe comedy is one of the most powerful (and fun!) means to bridge communication. I released two albums under the band name Mass Experience which I loved doing, and even performed live on Studio 10. I’ve done tonnes of television and radio and in 2022 had my story told alongside my remarkable mum’s on Australian Story’s most highly rated episode ‘I dream of Jeanne’.
Why I stood for Council
From one of my earliest memories answering a call to sell Legacy badges, standing on a corner in Kings Cross holding a tray - and little beknownst to me, my mother was sitting in a car parked across the road in dark glasses keeping a watchful eye on me – I have wanted to serve my community and work for the greater good.
I love Lane Cove and have always had strong ties – from my grandmother who was a resident of Greenwich, to the decade spent raising my children, where the weekly outing was taking them to Lane Cove Library and Riverview toy library. Me eldest son works in Lane Cove as do I frequently these days too, and I feel it is the most cosmopolitan exciting place to live and work this side of the bridge.
I’ve spoken for Pride month and International Women’s Day and am a frequent guest speaker at Rotary and Probus clubs all over greater Sydney raising awareness for Alzheimer’s. I DJed at the Mother’s Day Classic marathon in the Domain raising funds for women’s cancers and work casually as a female health educator for Family Planning NSW. I started a radio show with 2RRR to encourage diversity in my local community. I’ve also volunteered for many years reading tarots at many of the local primary school fundraising events!
