Weaving & Yarning Workshops
Dr Virginia Keft ran 8 Weaving & Yarning workshops where participants were guided through the process of weaving as everyone worked together towards a collaborative art piece that was displayed during the Weaving Stories Film Festival, and entered into the Lane Cove Art Collection. Attendees could contribute their pieces from the workshop that Dr Keft then constructed together to make the final community art piece.
Intergenerational School excursions
Local schools were invited to participate in a Weaving & Yarning Intergenerational School excursion where the intergenerational connection could bring about new perspectives and understanding. Hosting an organised activity can create the space for interactions that will combat loneliness, reduce ageism and build a sense of purpose through story sharing.

Story Threads (2025)
The art piece has been titled 'Story Threads' and is a vibrant woven artwork that intertwines traditional weaving techniques with the rich tradition of Yarning, reflecting the shared stories and cultural exchanges from community workshops across Lane Cove. Each thread symbolises a narrative, collectively creating a fabric that celebrates connection, Country and the enduring power of storytelling.

This project is proudly funded by the NSW Government through the NSW Social Cohesion Grants for Local Government.
