Discover 3D Printing for Accessibility Tools at Lane Cove and St Leonards Library

Did you know you can use the 3D printer at Lane Cove and St Leonards Library for a small fee? Throughout December there is a display at St Leonards of various assistive tools that you can 3D print. Items like a bottle or can opener, key turner, nail clipper holder and various pen holders, all which can help people with limited finger dexterity complete everyday tasks. Come and check out the display and see what you could create! While this display is on during December at St Leonards, these items can be printed at any time at St Leonards and Lane Cove Library. Printing fees apply.

What Can I Print?

Serving Utensil - this piece of equipment can be used to turn two forks into a pair of tongs to act as a practical serving utensil.

Key Turner - this design is an open assistive technology device which allows people with missing digits and/or reduced digital dexterity or grip strength to insert and turn keys in locks. The device can fit comfortably in a pocket.

Cutlery Handle - this enlarged handle for cutlery assists people challenged by grasping. Printed in flexible material, this handle accepts all kind of cutlery.

Chopstick helper - this piece of equipment can be used to help make chopsticks more accessible to people with limited hand mobility and fine motor skills.

Bottle Opener – This handle can help people with arthritis or limited finger dexterity to open standard water bottle caps. It provides a large gripping surface and clamps onto the caps with a small squeeze, allowing users to remove or screw on caps.

These and lots more accessibility tools are on display and available to print at St Leonards Library in December.

The 3D printing fee is $5.50 per job plus $0.10C per min or $6 per hour of print time. Price list and list of all assistive tools here.
