How much does it cost to hire a hall?
The cost will depend on the venue you hire and the type of event you are holding. Additional fees also apply for bond, cleaning, or a breach of the Council’s conditions of hire. Council reserves the right to revise the fees, charges, and bond, payable from time to time as may be found necessary.
How do I book?
Please visit Lane Cove Council’s website where you can obtain venue information, check availability, hire fees and to book online, or see the individual links to our venues below:
All hirers must include set-up, pack-up, and cleaning in their booking times. The venue must be left clean, as tidy as found, and you must take away your own rubbish, so it is ready for the next user.
Do the venues have a kitchen, tables and other equipment?
Many venues have a kitchen, tables, chairs and other equipment. For more information about what is available at each venue, please see the individual venues below:
The Terrace Function Room has an adjoining commercial kitchen and catering available with exclusive rights to Bern the Chef Pty Ltd (telephone: 0402 092 574, website: bernthechef.com.au). Alternatively, venue only hire is available (no food permitted).
Can I see the venue before I book?
Yes. If you would like to view one of our venues, please contact our Bookings Team at bookings@lanecove.nsw.gov.au to make an appointment during business hours.
Bond refund?
All bonds will be credited back to your payment card within 14 days. There could be a delay in returning the bond to you if there is damage to the venue, if it is left dirty, or if you have breached the Council’s conditions of hire.
Can we have alcohol?
Selling of alcoholic drinks requires a licence. Alcoholic drinks may not be sold within the facility unless all necessary licensing requirements have been complied with.
When alcohol is sold, a licensed security guard must be present. Alcoholic drinks may be served with meals. Under no circumstances shall alcohol be brought into the facility in kegs or similar bulk containers. Please contact the Liquor & Gaming NSW at least twenty-eight (28) days prior to the event:
When can we pick up the keys?
No keys are required. When you have made a confirmed booking online, a pin number will be sent to your email automatically. Your pin number will only allow you to access the venue as per your booking times.
Can we drop off goods early and pick up the next day?
No. We do not allow any hirer to store any goods prior or after your bookings.
Is there a cancellation fee?
Yes. Cancellation fees apply: 50% for cancellation within seven business days, and 100% for cancellation within 24 hours prior to the event.
Can I put decorations up?
As per Council’s conditions of hire, floors, walls or any part of the building shall not be broken or pierced by nails, screws etc. nor shall any appliance, fitting or fixture be interfered with in any way. Adhesives, such as sticky tape and blue tac, are not to be used on any surface.
Use of plastics?
Council has made a commitment to reduce the use of single-use plastics at its public events. Council encourages you to consider swapping single use items for alternatives. Together we can help to reduce litter and support the transition away from disposable single-use plastics.
Can I bring a jumping castle into the venue?
No. Jumping castles are not permitted.
Do I need public liability insurance?
Council will cover public liability insurance for one off bookings for social events, family gatherings, birthday parties or something similar. For regular group bookings, business or commercial, you will need to provide a copy of your organisation’s certificate of currency.
