Compost Network Postcards (Facebook Post).jpg
Bringing people together through composting!

Welcome to the Compost Network. This program is designed to connect people who want to recycle their food scraps with local hosts who graciously accept these food scraps for composting. By participating in the program, residents contribute to a healthier environment while also building meaningful connections within their community.

Fill out the Host or Donor survey below so that we can match food scrap donors with local compost hosts. To become a host, you will need an established compost system, although we can provide you with resources and training to get going. If you don’t have space for a compost system, you can become a donor and donate your food scraps to a local host.

Prepare to be Matched

We will pair local donors with hosts who are ready and willing to accept organic waste for composting. Whilst waiting to be a donor, start practicing the new habit of separating food scraps from your general waste.

Connect with Your Host

Once matched, donors and hosts can connect to discuss specifics such as preferred food scraps or preferences for drop off etc. Building connections with your host is an integral part of the Compost Network experience.

Start Composting Together

Now that have you have connected and agreed on the details you are ready to start turning your food scraps into compost! Together you will help to divert waste from landfill and create nutrient-rich compost for healthy soils.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

Is it free?

Yes, absolutely! Our program is designed to be accessible to everyone, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility.

What can I compost?

Your host will provide guidelines on what they accept. Generally, organic kitchen waste like fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, and eggshells are suitable for composting. In some cases, your host may wish to exclude certain foods like meat and dairy.

How do I find my local Host?

Please use the map above to look for a host local to your area, then complete the survey to Sign Up as a Donor. If there is not currently a host close to you, you might be able to visit other hosts if they have capacity to accept food waste from out of their immediate area.

I would like to be a Host but there is already one in my street / area.

There is plenty of room for more than one host per street or area!
